The Night Is For Hunting

Author: John Marsden
Title: The Night Is For Hunting1
Series: Tomorrow (book 6)
Number of Pages: 256
Publication Date: 1998
Genre: Teen Fiction
Synopsis: "Hell’s a big place, but it gets crowded when Ellie and her friends take an uncooperative crew of orphans under their wing and into their hidden refuge. It’s not easy to keep four young children busy and happy in the bush, and things only get worse when Ellie and Homer find evidence that mysterious visitors have discovered their sanctuary. Could it be a patrol of enemy soldiers sent on a search and destroy mission? They find out all too soon. In a time and place where war robs your identity, makes you forget your past and fear your future, it seems impossible for Ellie to make sense of a world that is quickly falling apart. And after a peaceful food raid turns into a nightmarish fight for survival, escape back to Hell seems hopeless.
Ellie, Fi, Homer, Lee, and Kevin brave the worst in this electrifying continuation of their battle to stay alive and sane in a war zone that was once their home.
The Night Is for Hunting is the sixth book in the Tomorrow When the War Began series."

OMZ! As if things weren't complicated enough for Ellie and her friends, they have now find themselves stuck with a bunch of little kids that they saved from being taken by the soldiers.
The Night Is for Hunting was so good, I mean like I could hardly put it down especially when after they rescued the ferals from impending doom.
At one point in the book I was torn from being mad at the ferals and then at two other points I was so sad, especially when they ran off because they didn't trust anyone any more.
I must say that the farther the series goes along the story gets more violent and the Ellie loses a little more of her sense of humor and her sanity, although it makes the story more interesting and harder to put down. Especially since she's vaguely aware that she is turning into a cold blooded adrenalin junkie.
Favorite part of the book would have to be in the beginning when Ellie's driving the truck she stole in a mad dash to save herself, her friends, and the ferals. Mainly because the end of the trip was kind of funny in a sad way with all the unhappy campers.
Least favorite part of the book would give too much away; let's just say it has to do with the kids that they rescued.
The Night Is for Hunting was definitely a good read and I cannot wait to read the last book in the Tomorrow series.

The Night Is for Hunting earns 5 out of 5 pineapples.
