Fear the Fantastic

Author: K.A. Applegate
Title: Fear the Fantastic
Series: Everworld (book 6)
Number of Pages: 186
Publication Date: 2000
Genre: Teen Fiction/Fantasy
Synopsis: "No one knows what it's like to be Christopher, David, April, Jalil, or even Senna. One minute they're off to Fairy Land to recover a dragon's stolen treasure. The next they find themselves sitting in the middle of history class. All it takes to move between the worlds is to fall asleep. And they just can't seem to find a way to make it stop. Now Christopher and the others find themselves at the single most powerful area in Everworld. Olympus. As in Greek gods. As in mythology. It seems that the evil alien god, Ka Anor, plans to take Olympus for himself — and Zeus isn't having any of it. Christopher and the others know it's not their fight. But they know ultimately they're going to have to choose a side. And it probably won't be Ka Anor's..."

Sadly this is the last book that I own in the Everworld series. So last review on the Everworld series till I find the last six books. Fear the Fantastic is told from Christopher's point of view.
I'd have to rank Fear the Fantastic as my second favorite book in the series. After Realm of the Reaper that is.
After escaping from "Fairy Land" they find themselves near Ka Anor's realm. Which just so happens to filled with his minions the Hetwan.
They also ended up helping Dionysus and Ganymede who were caught and are on their way to sacrificed to Ka Anor. The former who is more of a hindrance then help.
The thing I liked most about Fear the Fantastic was when Christopher was in the real world and you found out that he wasn't such a bad person by a tough choice that he made.
Least favorite part would have to be Dionysus. I just didn't like him and he was pretty useless. I also didn't like the female Hetwan, they sounded like they looked really gross.
With this being the last of my posts about Everworld till I find the remaining six books I'll leave you with links to the reviews of the first six books and the names of the last six in the series. Hope y'all have enjoyed hearing about the books as much as I enjoyed reading them. :)

Fear the Fantastic earns 5 out of 5 pineapples.

  1. I like fantasy as much as anyone, but sometimes taking refuge in the normal everyday is refreshing. If that appeals to anyone, they may like my new release, Angela 1: Starting Over. To learn more about the book, just click on my name and follow the link to my website. Thanks.
