All About Middle Grade Review: Lost & Found [Blog Tour]

Today, I have the pleasure of being the third stop in the blog tour for Obert Skye's Lost & Found, the second installment of the Witherwood Reform School series. Continue reading for not only my thoughts on it, but, also for the chance  to win your own copy!!!

Tobias and Charlotte Eggers are not on vacation. Well, I suppose they are on a vacation from everything they once knew. Locked within the walls of Witherwood, high upon a mysterious mesa, they are still looking for a way out. There are distractions, however. The very ground is shaking, and the creatures that protect the school are revolting. When one of their only friends goes missing it leads to a devastating secret. But there is hope. There are other students who have clear minds and are also fighting to get out. Luckily for everyone, Tobias has a plan. It's a dangerous one, but if it works, it could forever change their fate and Witherwood's future.

First Sentence:

On top of a tall mesa, in the middle of a lonely desert, there sits a school.

A couple weeks ago, I shared my thoughts on Witherwood Reform School (which you totally want to read). So. I'm thinking it is pretty lucky that I have the chance to talk about book two, Lost & Found, with you today as part of the blog tour for the book.

So, Lost & Found was a teensy bit slower than Witherwood Reform School...or it just felt that way because I had less time to devote to reading it.

AHH!! I don't know where to even really begin on talking about this book. But, I'm guessing starting with the writing is as good of place as any. There are three reasons why I really enjoyed Obert Skye's writing-

1. The style in which the book is told just pulls me in. I like that in the beginning of some of the chapters there is this (my mind is blanking on the word), well, the narrator is talking to you about what is currently happening and notating upon the poor plight of Tobias, Charlotte, and their father. It just really worked for the story and, well, I liked it quite a bit.
2. His writing really captures the wrongness of Witherwood so well. He really brings the dark elements of the school to life while still maintaining some humor.
3. It's just plain fun to read!

I was a little saddened that Charlotte did not play nearly as big of a role in the second book as she did in the first. Though I still did enjoy reading about Tobias, so, not a total loss. I honestly cannot talk more about the characters because spoilers, but, there were some new one's introduced that really added to the story.

It would seem that some of my theories as to what nefarious scheme Witherwood is concocting is right. While I refuse to go into details, I did like that the mystery of what the school is actually doing with the kids is starting to come together. Now the only question is, will they be able to stop it and get out in one piece. Alas, I don't know the answer to that yet. 

The long and short of it is...I really liked this book and seeing the plot pieces coming together. I will spare you any further allergy induced ramblings though.

Final Verdict: Lost & Found- Entertaining and enjoyable, in essence that is what this book is.
