Whatever is Lovely

Whatever is Lovely: A Coloring Book for Reflection and Worship, December 15, 2015. 96 pages. Published by WaterBrook Press. Source: Blogging for Books.
Color your way to peace and worship.

We live in such a busy, hectic world—but what waits for you inside this cover is a way to quiet the noise, express creativity, and spend some sweet time with God. Each page features an original design from one of a dozen different artists, beautifully illustrating a contemplative quote from an inspirational writer, a beloved hymn, or Scripture.

When we create, we echo the heart of our Creative God who designed everything and gave us the capacity to recognize beauty.

So go ahead! You have permission to pick up your colored pencil and be reminded of truth in a fresh way.

Okay, I may be the worst person ever when it comes to coloring. Like it'll probably take me ten years just to finish one of these drawings (and they are less detailed then some of the ones I've flipped through in store).

Truthfully, I could not resist requesting Whatever is Lovely for review because I a) really wanted to see what the big deal with adult coloring books is and b) really liked the idea of a coloring book that was supposed to help one reflect and be prayerful.

While I'm still working my way slowly through my first page. I can honestly say that I have found this book to be quite enjoyable. I really like how each picture is paired with a passage from the Bible. It was also interesting to see that on the backside of each page was more info either on why the passage was selected or an Easter egg on the author of the inspirational quote. In all, a very nice combination of art and quotes that work well with each other.

For me, someone who is not all that good at art projects-like drawing or coloring-I really like that there are easier designs to tackle. Rather than an entire book of crazy, eye boggling designs. That's not to say that this coloring book is lacking in challenging designs...just that there were plenty to not scare me too badly.

I haven't flipped through a ton of coloring books, so, I don't know if this is normal or not. But, I liked how each of the designs were done by a different artist. Pair it with the hand-lettering for the Scripture passages and this is one lovely looking book.

I am afraid that I am about out of words for this coloring book. I'm not sharing in pictures of the interior, yet, but will be posting at a later date (when I finally finish one) a picture of the one I'm currently coloring.

Final Verdict: Whatever is Lovely- Beautiful illustrations and inspiring; as well as designs for just about any level of color book partaker.
