All About Middle Grade Review: Evil Fairies Love Hair [Blog Tour]

Being that this is my third book, in as many months, featuring fairies I was unsure what to expect...this time around. Would Evil Fairies Love Hair be your typical fairy featuring book, or, would the author step out of the norms and turn the whole wish granting fairies story on it's head. Well, I can honestly tell you I, personally, have never read anything like this.

While there were many reasons to enjoy Evil Fairies Love Hair, what really sold me on this book would have to be Ali and her journey. I really did enjoy seeing her go from being solely obsessed with getting her wish and proving that she was smart, to realizing the she was indeed smart already and capable of saving her friends from the fairies scheme.
   So, with Ali's story being interesting as you got to see her realize her potential, I needed to sit back and think on what else it was about her that made me want to keep reading this book. The conclusion I have come to is that she is a girl that many could relate to; her need to prove herself is a sentiment that I'm sure everyone, be they girl or boy, has felt at one point. Especially when one feels they are always being compared to a sibling. And that is why I feel that readers will enjoy reading about her and her misadventures with hair eating fairies.

I think what I enjoyed most about the plot would have to be the different take on fairies. I found it interesting that the 'fairies' in Evil Fairies Love Hair were after something that they thought they could just take. It was pretty interesting to see the misfortune that they brought upon themselves by trying to be what they weren't.  So while I enjoyed the conflict between the kids and the fairies, it was the whys behind the schemes of the fairies and the reasons for the kids wishes that really brought me into the book.

Final Verdict: Evil Fairies Love Hair- A fun read that was hard to put down.
