DNF Review: Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend

Well, I'm just going to come out and say it. Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend was just NOT for me!
I really wanted to like this one, yet, I could even get more than five pages into it before setting it aside for four months. After a few months, I decided to give it one more chance thinking that maybe when I first started it, it perhaps was not the time nor the right book for me at that said time. A long story short, I still was not connecting with this book in the least bit.
So, what did not work for me in, the few short pages, in this book? Well that's simple, I just could not get into the character's story or the voice of said character. Also, I seem to have an aversion to all books set in the Hamptons and places such as it; something about the tone of the characters in books set there rub me the wrong way.
Other than the opening that failed to capture my attention, Gemma was already sounding like one of those characters that would fluster me to no end with their personality and outlook on life. You know, those ones that make you want to box their ears...
Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend may be a good book, I don't know, it just wasn't meant for my reading pleasure. Even though I hate giving up on a book so early on, I just could not find it in myself to continue reading on with so many other books waiting in the wings.
