I am sure that by now y'all know how much I love books with maps, so, when I was given the chance to pick out a couple pieces of art from The Jealousy Glass by Gwen Perkins to share on the blog I could not resist including the map.

And then, I just had to put down one of the sketches that was done for the cover of the book.

Art by Enggar Adirasa

See what Gwen Perkins has to say about the cover:

So far as my thoughts on the first draft of the cover go...
"When I first saw the first draft of the cover for The Jealousy Glass, I was amazed. It really wasn't what I'd expected but once again, Enggar knocked it out of the park. The muted color and the pale spires perfectly suited the empire of Anjdur and the feel of the story. I also love the use of space on this image and the angles that point upwards. The architecture has a distinct feel to it that's different from that used in Cercia on the cover of my first novel.
One slight change was made to an early draft of the cover and that was in the Empress Irena (pictured at the center). Originally, he had her with blonde hair; however, because of some tweaks to my novel descriptions, we ended up making her dark-haired which I'm much more pleased with.
All in all, I think it's wonderful and look forward to seeing how more of his artwork turns out."

The Jealousy Glass (Artifacts of Empire, 2) by Gwen Perkins, December 1, 2012. Published by Hydra Publications.
"We came to stop a war before it came to Cercia. And it seems the war has come to us."
Responsibility and patriotism spur Cercia's new leader, Quentin, to protect his beloved country at all costs and he assigns Asahel and Felix to serve as ambassadors and secret agents to Anjdur. Their journey quickly turns awry and Asahel and Felix barely escape a devastating shipwreck, walk a tightrope of political tension, and rescue an empress before they learn they must face an enemy closer to them than they thought.
Will they be able to uncover an assassin's plot before it's too late? Will Asahel be able to unearth a secret that is vital to their mission? Will Cercia survive its own revolution? In The Jealousy Glass, Perkins boldly continues a series of unforgettable characters and events that will leave you begging for more.

    1. First let me say that I loved universal mirror. Hands down one of my favorites. I've hit a snag on finding Jealousy Glass though. I know it has been two years since publication but I am dying to finish after your brief teaser. Amazon no longer has any copies. Any suggestions?
