Y'all I am excited to participate in the blog blitz from Gwen Perkins' newest release, The Jealousy Glass, which just so happens to be available today. Check out these two lovely pieces of art from the book and let me know what y'all think.

About the author:

Gwen Perkins is a museum curator with a MA in Military History from Norwich University. She has written for a number of magazines, exhibitions and nonfiction publications. Her interest in history fueled the creation of the world of The Universal Mirror, inspired in part by people and events of the medieval and Renaissance periods.

I am sure that by now y'all know how much I love books with maps, so, when I was given the chance to pick out a couple pieces of art from The Jealousy Glass by Gwen Perkins to share on the blog I could not resist including the map.

So far as my thoughts on the first draft of the cover go...
"When I first saw the first draft of the cover for The Jealousy Glass, I was amazed. It really wasn't what I'd expected but once again, Enggar knocked it out of the park. The muted color and the pale spires perfectly suited the empire of Anjdur and the feel of the story. I also love the use of space on this image and the angles that point upwards. The architecture has a distinct feel to it that's different from that used in Cercia on the cover of my first novel.
One slight change was made to an early draft of the cover and that was in the Empress Irena (pictured at the center). Originally, he had her with blonde hair; however, because of some tweaks to my novel descriptions, we ended up making her dark-haired which I'm much more pleased with.
All in all, I think it's wonderful and look forward to seeing how more of his artwork turns out."
