Alright, so, what makes Walking with Mary such an interesting read. Well, that would have to be the way the author is able to put into context aspects of Biblical history regarding Mary into alignment with Jewish Law from that time-period. For example,

One of the things I enjoyed Edward Sri's Walking with Mary would have to be the brake down of Mary's journey from Nazareth to the foot of the Cross. Does this book give you the full picture of Mary's journey, no. But then again, there is no way that anyone on earth can decisively say what she was feeling from the time of angel's visit to the death of her son Jesus on the cross. What this book does do is put certain things that she says into context so that we know what her words would have meant in that period of time.

Even though I enjoyed Walking with Mary, I was hoping that the author had something new to bring to the table in regards to Mary and her role within the Bible and history. I guess, you could say that I was disappointed that there was no new material to broaden my knowledge. While I may not have gained fresh knowledge from this one, I would recommend Edward Sri's book to those who are less familiar with the historical and Biblical story of the Blessed Virgin Mary since there is a vast amount of connections mentioned in the book that can easily be missed.

Final Verdict: While Walking with Mary covered a lot of things I was familiar with in regards to the Blessed Virgin Mary, I enjoyed it because it was well written and not in the least bit dry.
