I have a confession to make, I have never watched Footloose the movie. Even though the movie itself never appealed to me, I could not resist accepting the opportunity to read and review the picture book based upon the song by Kenny Loggins and rewritten for children. It just looked too cute to pass up!!

• Oh my goodness! You guys are going to love Footloose because it is adorable! From the rewriting of the lyrics, to be more suitable for young readers, to the illustrations this picture book is a total gem. 

• Even though I was intrigued to see how the song would be reworked to be suitable for young children, I was nervous about saying yes to reviewing it. Yet, it was a delightful read because the lyric changes were cute without coming across as if it were dumbed down. I really do think that those who are familiar not only with the movie but also song Footloose will enjoy being able to share this version with their young children. 

• The illustrations were one of my favorite parts of Footloose.  I really enjoyed that the song and illustrations were set within a zoo as it made for some entertaining visuals while reading. I really think that Tim Bowers did a great job of capturing the song with fun, vibrant illustrations that are sure to bring joy to young readers. 

• All in all, I thought the song and illustrations paired really well with each other. You could definitely see that both artists were on the same page when it came to the story. It just blended so well together!!

Final Verdict: Footloose- Such a fun reimagning of a classic song with beautiful illustrations.
